Tom Clancy’s The Division—the game I find impossible to finish is getting a live-action adaptation. Ubisoft announced at E3 2019 that Netflix is picking up the title that will start Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Rafe Judkins will adapt the screenplay of the best-selling game and will be directed by David Leitch, who helmed Deadpool 2Atomic Blonde, The Fast & Furious Presents: HOBBS & SHAW.
Here’s an official synopsis of the game:
In the near future, a pandemic virus is spread via paper money on Black Friday, decimating the city of New York and killing millions. By Christmas, what’s left of society has descended into chaos. A group of civilians, trained to operate in catastrophic times, are activated in an attempt to save who and what remains.
Netflix has not announced a release date.
Ubisoft released the sequel—The Division 2 in March 2019. The Division recorded the highest first-day sales of any title in the company’s history. It raked in USD330 million into Ubisoft’s coffers over the first five days. The game currently has more than 20 million players.
