Food and Art becomes one at Paradox Art Café

Warp your mind around a new concept – A chillax lounge fused with an artsy-fartsy gallery-like feel, meshed with an awesome layout. Mind-blown yet? Wait till you see what’s in-store.

Is it another yuppie joint like all those fancy-schmancy restaurants in KL? We reckon not. In fact, Paradox Art Café is neither a restaurant, a café, nor lounge. It’s a creative hub that incorporates food, art, and space, with a dash of tasteful (pardon the pun!) ambiance.

Even their tag-line depicts – Eat. Drink. Play. Discover.

Now mum can’t disapprove of us while we ‘play’ with our food.

  

- How’s the place? -

Well-planned and broken into 3 different sections;
1) the SoHo loft-like play-area has a pool & foosball table
2) a smoke-free contemporary dining area, and finally
3) a very Balinese chill-out terrace overlooking a small lake.

Personally, we love the whole idea that it caters to almost every sort of individual, whether you’re the socialite or the more quiet kind who much prefers a good coffee and book, there’s almost everything catered. And with a ‘homely’ atmosphere, we’re definitely all-out for this place.

And for the itchy-hands, they’ve got a very unique blackboard wall that runs around the place. Since it’s only a mere 1-meter tall from the ground up, it’s the perfect height for any toddler to test-drive his or her inner Rembrandt doodlings or Banksy wall graffiti.

- Whose behind it all? -

Answer: Two very unlikely combination. Owned and run by two cousins – James and Tan, they’ve fused together a somewhat new and exciting concept with their passion and love for good food and creative arts.

Tan the Chef – previously an engineer, left all his tool sets and calculations for the apron and wok. Instead his calculations have perfected the asian style original reciped passed down from his mother, while the years in UK earned him Western cuisine experience points. The duo believes in the ‘original’ touch that’s currently lacking in today’s eateries which Tan himself passionately pours his heart out into each and every dish he serves.

James the Man – Digital Consultant, now turned publicity, promotions, and ‘the’ marketing man of Paradox. Brains and conceptualist of the place, his passion for the creative arts has been merged with Tan’s own and has become a symbiotic and unique fusion transmitted through the concept design and interior décor of the place.

- Is Halal? -

In case you’re wondering, Paradox uses and serves PORK-Free home-cooked style fusion menu of Asian & Western dishes. 

Top that off with a huge helping of Tan’s ‘love’ and ‘passion’ thrown in, he’s put extra care and attention to every single detail to create the perfect experience of your stay in Paradox.

- So where’s the place and how do I get there? -

The first time we headed there, we got lost. ( Hah! Derek's sense of direction is BADDDDDDDD. )

Sure, it’s in Bandar Utama, but it doesn't mean it’s actually ‘in’ One Utama (as perceived by the many of us). Tucked away on the opposite side of the shopping mall itself, Paradox is perhaps, BU’s best-kept secret hidden away in a quiet suburban area of BU3.

Heck, even the address ‘The Oasis’ uniquely suggests a place of solace, refuge and relaxation with like-minded individuals.
