SONY PLAYSTATION 4 . Is the rumor true?

It’s been over 7 years since the release of Xbox 360 and over 6 since the release of PS3. Fans are yet to complain about the capabilities of the consoles and their processors, but the internet has been awash with speculation as to when the upgrades are coming. There have been a number of updates and murmurs over the past few weeks, so here’s a of rumors surrounding the PS4 release dates.

Hiroshi Sakamoto, Sony’s Home Entertainment Vice President, may have gone against the typical protocol of the major hardware manufacturer he represents during CES 2013. In an interview with emol.com, Sakamoto suggested that Sony might be planning to announce the PlayStation 4 before E3 2013.
The quotes from Hiroshi Sakamoto were originally published in Spanish, so forgive the loose language guidelines that come from Google Translate. In spite of the translation, the message is clear.
“But our friends are preparing PlayStation. I can only say that we are focused on the E3 gaming event, scheduled for June. Announcement may be in that minute or even earlier in May
…In that time we expect to deliver great news, but we must wait until May at least.
The bold emphasis is my own. Sakamoto indicates that Sony might do a pre-E3 announcement, as some companies have recently taken to, in order to drop word of the PlayStation 4. Nintendo did it with the Nintendo 3DS two years ago.
Why would a company do that? This is based purely on inference, but I’d assume Sony wants some dedicated limelight for the new console. If they announce the machine at E3, there’s a chance it could be drowned out by news of something different. By announcing the console earlier, Sony generates a level of hype going into the show.
Of course, I personally prefer an element of surprise from the pressers I attend or watch from afar. I’ve never been a fan of pre-announcements.
We’ll have more on the next PlayStation as it comes.
